Before you start, have these ready

  • A photo of your room. Take it from the doorway, in daylight, at normal zoom (not 0.5x). Photo tips

  • 1–4 inspiration photos of rooms you like, from Pinterest, Instagram or a magazine. These are required, and they shape the style of your design. Where to find them

1. Name your room

Log in, type a name for the room you want to design (like "Living room"), and click Get Started.

2. Pick a tool

Choose Furnishing & Decorating for most rooms. Choose Kitchen & Bathroom if you want to test finishes like tiles, benchtops and cabinets.

3. Add your photos

Upload your room photo, then your inspiration photos. That's all your first design needs, so you can leave everything else on the form as it is.

4. Create your design

Click the button at the bottom of the form. Your design is usually ready in a minute or two. Each new design uses 1 credit.

5. Refine it in the chat, then save

Your first result is a starting point. Tell the chat what to change, like "make the walls a warm white", or tap an item first and then describe the change. Refining doesn't use credits (you just need at least 1 left on your account), so keep going until it feels right, then click Save.

If the shape of the room looks wrong, like a missing window or a moved wall, use the Architecture tab next to the chat. Here's how.
